A native American woman checks her work on a winter hat she has just completed.

I paint wildlife of the Americas, primarily North American wildlife. I work from photographs which I have taken myself in my travels all over the west. I then combine elements of photos to get the composition and elements I want in my painting. My goal is to present each animal in it's natural environment and exhibiting natural behavior which will be interesting and informative for the viewer.
My western art is fueled by my fascination since childhood of the old west and a way of life that holds a special place in our nation's history. Growing up on a steady diet of western themed TV shows, and admiration for a way of life that is tough, but honest, I try to depict both historical and modern western themes.

Connected to my western leanings but not restricted to the western field, I paint a lot of horses. In particular I take delight in following bands of wild horses, often in Nevada where my brother lives. These are some of the horse images available.
Cattle are of course a part of the culture of the west. In addition, they are just fun to look at with the variation in their expressions and physical appearance. These paintings are available for purchase.
I do many commissions as well as my other art work. In particular, because of my involvement with and lifelong association with dogs, I paint a lot of dog portraits. These pages show a few of the many portraits and paintings of dogs I have done over the years. If you are interested in a portrait, please contact me for details on pricing and timing.
